Reports on Hospital Performance

Each year, The Leapfrog Group and its membership of employers and other purchasers, as well as business coalitions on health, ask every adult and free-standing pediatric general acute care hospital in the U.S. to voluntarily complete the Leapfrog Hospital Survey.

The Leapfrog Group’s standards are updated annually to reflect the latest science and are designed to drive better outcomes for patients. Results are publicly reported by individual bricks-and-mortar hospital. Leapfrog uses the survey data to track and share hospitals’ progress on issues of importance to health care consumers and purchasers. This includes maternity care, hospital-acquired infections, medication safety, and other important topics.

To present data on aggregate hospital performance on the Survey, Leapfrog has partnered with Castlight Health, an industry leader in providing tools to aid consumers in their health care decision-making. In 2016, Leapfrog and Castlight Health will be issuing reports on the following topics:

 

Castlight Report Infections  

Health Care-Associated Infections

People expect a hospital to make them healthier. Unfortunately, some patients acquire an infection in the hospital that leaves them sicker than when they arrived. Castlight Report Never Events  

Never Events

Some mistakes in the hospital are so egregious that they are referred to as “Never Events.” These errors include surgery performed on the wrong part of the body or the wrong patient, objects left inside a patient after surgery, deaths from medication errors, and death or serious injury from a fall in a hospital. READ MORE >
